In the book of Judges, Samson is a ‘prophet’ and a ‘Nazarite’ and Delilah is his second love interest. She is named without relation to any man and this kind of independence is rare for a female character in the Tanakh. All we know is her name and where she lives, but not which community or family she belongs to. Though she is a sexual partner to Samson and he loves her, there is no indication about her feelings towards him. Delilah accepts a monetary bribe from the Philistines without hesitation to betray her lover.
Her task is to reveal the source of Samson’s strength so that they could destroy him. Delilah seduces Samson and he seems excited at the prospect of her weakening him. He allows his body to be bound up by her three times, though each time he breaks free on his own. The fourth time, she goes into archbrat-mode, teasing and toying with him until he finally gives in, breaking the role play. She face-fucks him to exhaustion until he falls asleep on her lap. In his vulnerability, she cuts off the source of Samson’s power – his hair – finally emasculating and weakening him as she had promised.
